DeRidder Rally Ride May 12, 2010
Hey, y’all-
Our monthly Chapter ride for MAY will be to visit Chapter M in DeRidder, La., for their annual Mudbug Rally on May 15th! The rally flyer is here: http://www.chapterlam.com/rally.htm
Due to the fact that the rally is from 8AM to 2PM(early), Buster and I scouted the route Monday afternoon and determined that on the morning of Saturday, May 15th, we need to meet at the Brookshire’s parking lot on Mansfield Rd at Bert Kouns. There is a gas station on the premises and bathrooms in the store for those that may need them pre-ride. Be gassed-up and ready for a short ride briefing at 7:15AM and we will be KSU(kick stands up) at 7:30. We anticipate that it will take us almost two and a half hours to make the ride…almost entirely on Hwy 171…and we’ll stop briefly in the town of Many for those bikes that may need fuel, or someone needs a ‘comfort’ stop! That’s about 70+ miles from start. From there we will continue South on Hwy 171 to DeRidder and pick up Hwy 171/190 through DeRidder to a left on Hwy 112, where the American Legion Hall is located about ¼ mile from the turn, on the right…about 135/140 miles total.
After the rally is over, we plan to ride North to Anacoco, where we will turn West onto Hwy 111/392 over to Hwy 191 at Toledo Bend Dam. There is an observation area/deck there with water fountains and bathrooms. From there we’ll travel North on Hwy 191 to the Sabine/Desoto Parish line where we’ll take Hwy 481/Lula Rd to Hwy 84 just west of Mansfield. From there we’ll continue into Mansfield on Hwy 84 to Hwy 171 North back into Shreveport.
